Licensing Copyrights & Copywrongs on the Left Coast

And now back to our regularly scheduled business programmig:

First is an announcement for those living and working in the Southern California region, and following that is a strong suggestion for everyone who dabbles in stock photography

The West Coast Chapter of the ASPP (American Society of Picture Professionals) is hosting an event in Culver City called, Copyrights & Copywrongs in Image Licensing“, with Attorney Nancy E. Wolff, counsel for PACA (The Picture Archive Council of America) next Saturday, April 4th, starting at 9:00am.

Included in the discussion and presentation will be:

    * The Digital Millennium Copyright Act
    * Fair use
    * What copyright protects and for how long
    * What is an infringement
    * How the Copyright Act can be used to remove infringing works from the Internet
    * When you need additional permissions and why

See the West Coast ASPP web page for full details.

Note on RSVP: Because of limited space, you MUST reserve in advance to attend this event.

I can only say – If I lived anywhere in the area, I’d be sure to attend.

Also : Strongly recommeded for anyone who is currently selling, or thinking of selling images in the stock photo arena: while you’re on the West Coast Chapter Page, look to the right side of the page and you’ll see links to dpownload audio recordings of two recent ASPP Panel discussions, one on proper keywording, the other on stock licenses & pricing. Both discussions are well worth a listen.

    Thanks Gary. I just registered for the event.

    I have a short attention span but hopefully this is more engaging than typical lectures.

    Good to hear, Richard. I’d love to get a set of class ‘crib notes’ – or if you can post some review on it to your own weblog.

    Cheers,

    Hey Gary. yeah I can definitely do that. Better yet I’ll see if I can sneak in my recorder.
