Photo: Point Sur Lighthouse, Big Sur Coast
Picture: Sunrise light and morning mist at Point Sur Lighthouse, Big Sur Coast, Monterey County, California

Finally, I got one. I can’t say how many times I’ve driven past the Point Sur Lighthouse, and not taken a picture. Either wrong time, wrong weather, wrong light, or I was on my way to or from some place else. This last weekend I was camping in Big Sur with my family, and finally, everything went right. A big storm had passed the previous night, and morning found a perfect balance of clear skies (no haze), and a nice mix of clouds and rising mist.
You can see my other images from the Carmel / Big Sur coast in my online web gallery.

Nice Gary. I’ve always pondered why the lighthouse is on top of that sea stack and how people get up there. My Big Sur pictures are crap. I need to get some. It’s always just been a place I whiz by between Morro Bay and Monterey.

Great shot! I bet you would agree, that it was well worth the wait!
